With September now underway I can start to look forward to my favourite time of year – December! It’s my favourite time for many reasons: birthdays, Christmas, seasonal crafts, holidays, yummy festive food and family traditions.
One of those traditions is that we always watch The Snowman on TV or DVD at some point, and most years we see it more than once. I just love it. It’s timeless. However, this year as a special treat we are going to see it on the 18th December in Bradford with a live orchestra! What’s even more exciting is that we will not just be treated seeing just the Snowman, but also a second animated film as well. There is also the promise of a rousing Christmas overture and a visit from the organisation’s very own snowman. I can’t wait!
Performances
Carrot Productions are the most prolific performers of The Snowman film with a live orchestra in the world. The film plays on a large screen whilst the orchestra play the soundtrack. A young soloist will sing the iconic ‘Walking in the Air’ song. It just sounds perfectly delightful to me!
Shows will run from 3rd – 30th December 2019 and are suitable for ages 3+.

The second film will be one of three that has been specially commissioned by Carrot Productions. We will be seeing The Bear and the Piano which is based on the award-winning book by David Litchfield, with music by Daniel Whibley and narrated by Joanna Lumley. The other animation options are A Donkey’s Tale; a story of Dillion, an ordinary donkey, who has an extraordinary dream so he goes on the journey that will change his life. It has been written and composed by David Whibley. Or, super-Christmassy, The Nutcracker, which has been brought to life by Tom Scott. You can find out which one will be shown at your chosen venue on the Carrot Productions website.

Venues
The 13 venues in which The Snowman Tour 2019 will be performed include the cathedrals of Salisbury, Coventry, Winchester, Chester, Lichfield, Liverpool and Ely! I just love the idea of seeing the show in a cathedral. However, we are going to see the show at St George’s Hall in Bradford on 18th December which is still a fabulous venue and closer to home for us.
Other venues are: The Riverside Centre, Derby; Chesterfield Winding Wheel; Buxton Octogon and Beverley Minster. There are also 2 shows at Salford The Lighthouse but these are relaxed performances for ForHousing tenants, community volunteers, staff members, family and friends.

Tickets
Tickets for shows are predicted to sell out long before December so if you want to go it’s a good idea to look into it now. Tickets are on sale on the website of each venue or visit Carrot Productions website for more information and to be directed to tickets:
